Or the experience of Wuz,
Is a primitive future that modern life has been seeking - something ancient, original but familiar, and yet forward-looking.

2023 spring in Wuz

In the winter of 2017, the architect found a two-story old wooden house in a quiet alley on the south side of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. In the nearly abandoned backyard, a single red camellia was in full bloom.
Despite its age and decay, the house had a certain grace , a calming and reassuring strength, In its dim and ancient face.

By early 2023, the renovation of Wuz Marutamachi was completed, an unexpected snowstorm filled the surroundings with an unusual sense of serenity and warmth.The camellias in the backyard still bloomed, their red petals visible among the snowflakes

SPACE

The winter-blooming camellias were accompanied by the earlier summer-blooming Dodan-tsutsuji, together harmonizing with the earth as the seasons came and went. The calmness and warmth of the courtyard were the embodiment of seasons of Kyoto within the Wuz Marutamachi.

A 15-minute drive from Kyoto Station, located at the intersection of Karasuma and Marutamachi, and 5 minutes walk to Kyoto Imperial Palace.
It’s good to have a morning jogging or enjoy a quiet and fresh time in this Imperial Palace woods.
